I love my E61 and don't understand why they won't import it yet produce/import cars like the GT.

I think that the BMW NA consensus was that the GT was a bust, and they are going to keep the tourings coming, mostly because of the E61 drivers who defected to M-B and Audi.

I'm surprised that BMW NA gave a crap about the 600-odd/yr touring customers.

X6 sales are not as bad as 5GT. X6 sales are as expected. Its 5GT which is disappointing. Well, there is a 3GT coming and it will have a M version.

Hopefully BMW will realize this is a mistake and shelf the 3GT all together.

My first car was a Toyota 2 door hatchback. I loved the car car and its versatility and generally like hatchbacks. The problem with the 5 GT is the depth of the cargo space is much less than my E61. I think they increased rear space at the expense of cargo space. I also think that the wagon looks better. Also the regular 5 has a very large trunk with more cargo space than the GT. I may get a regular 5 with fold down seats.
