Audi Cuts A6 Price to Lure US BMW, Mercedes Drivers

Interesting. That's an aggressive price cut.

Price and numbers are main drivers of US consumer preferences. I bet it'll have at least some impact in increasing A6 sales.

Audi won me over with the 2012 Q5: electronics, transmission, MPG, price, style... I liked them all better than the new X3 so I took delivery about a month ago on a 2012 Q5 premium plus.

The problem is Audi still has a butt ugly grill on most (all?) their vehicles. Plus, BMW's maintenance policy is far superior, so until Audi changes this, they can subsidize the purchase of their vehicles all they want. I am not buying what they're selling.

Far superior how? For $800 Audi provides the same service. You don't think that maintenance cost is built into the cost of a BMW?

I agree with you but doesn't their plan not include wear and tear items? The brakes used to kill me on the Touareg!

BTW did you get the B&O sound system upgrade?

I'll pay for the tires and windshield wiper replacements

Yes, I got the B&O upgrade, it really makes a difference when listening to Sirius/XM.

BMW's wiper blade replacements are cheaper and rubbish in the US anyway. Honestly, I bet BMW NA has a specific department that tries to find ways to shave costs from the Maintenance Programme. Oh wait, that's Accounting, where I'll (hopefully) be working one day!

VW Group has some very nice vehicles (and some not so nice ones) thesedays. I don't mind paying more for quality or wear-and-tear items as long as the product itself is good. The Q5 definitely is a good vehicle, although I would rather have a diesel.

Audis these days are so nice. The A6 is so underrated. The BMW 5er is very nice but pricey and the MB E class is even more expensive and the quality has gone downhill.

Audi will need to up their quality before I ever actually considered one. I drove a Q5 2.0t that had the same rubber-band throttle as my A6, which caught fire on the side of I-95. Granted, I'm even less impressed with the latest batch of BMWs as well... I ordered a new E90 that will be the last non-turbo and may be holding onto it for a while.
