Question to the expert: I have a Motorola DCT6200, which seems to have some reasonable specs. There doesn't appear to be an option for a pass-through, the way it is configured I need to have the box set to 1080i to get the HD signal out of the DVI connection. The only bypass appears to be by means of coax connections on the back of the cable box, described as allowing bypass if the cable box is out, and then only for standard channels.

Am I missing something? Any suggestions welcome.

I just checked the AVS Forums (a specialty forum for Audio/Video), and it does not appear the Motorola 6200 has the 'pass through' capability. That is too bad. So, if you set the box to output 720p, it will pass through any stations that are 720p, but any stations outputting in 1080i will be DOWN converted to 720p and then your SXRD will have to again UP convert to 1080p. It's a pain in the neck, but right now it does not appear there is any way to fix this. Motorola is aware of the issue and will fix it with a 'future' box.

UPDATE: One thing you can do with your box is set 480 override in the 'settings' menu to 480i and let the SXRD do the processing. That should help with picture quality on standard definition (non high-def) channels.

And I'm far from an expert, those guys at the AVS forum have me beat big time
