terribly violent wreck. ABC'c commentators and crew covered the afternoon's tragedy in an incredibly respectful manner
sad day in the world of racing - it will take IndyCar some time to get over this one fans have been taking flowers, candles, and even milk to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in memory of the two-time 500 winner a great person and damn talented driver - he will be missed

Really sad, and a great loss.
There's been a lot of comment in the UK Press reporting that the sport needs to clean up its act and become more about racing than a spectacle. F1 went through this years ago and had to change its way, but it was dealing with a global market rather than a primarily US one where different needs have to be met. That number of cars on a relatively small racing circuit is asking for trouble, especially at those speeds. That being said, racing is dangerous and people do get killed regardless of how good the intentions are. RIP.

Sad deal, dangerous sport...225+ mph in open wheel cars, and very scary.
Horrific vid, but good dig out PNG/K, as the news showed a very short, edited version. Off to Valhalla. |
