I would just pay a lawyer (if within reason) as the premiums ain't worth it.

I too go myself in a similar situation this year during Memorial Day weeked. It was slow as shiets on a Monday morning at 6 in the morning. No cars on the road where usually , it would have the top of the morning pre rush hour. Long story short, paid a lawyer and literally 3 days before my scheduled court date, I get a letter from the DMV itself stating my case/ticket was dismissed. Well worth the $$$$ IMO.

Hello everyone,

I personally do not think that police officers are "pricks" or "pigs" or whatever.They do
a VERY difficult job for which we should all be thankfull.Especially when we are guilty.
Trying to avoid or even erase your ticket is wrong.We should learn from our mistakes
and not repeat them.In any case when the sign says 70 mph it means 70,not 75,not 85.If it was safe to drive at 85 the sign would say 85.
I was a month ago in France driving from Paris to Lyon 5 a.m. trying to be in time
for a Very important business meeting I had there.
The road was clear 10 miles ahead and I was doing 180-190 mph in my Gtr750.Two
police cars blocked my way and stopped me.The police officer could not believe his eyes!!! 187mph.
I was really thankfull for getting a ticket for 500 !!! Euros and not being arrested and jailed for being insane.
No business appointment,anxiety,stress or whatever is an excuse for being illegal.

Just my one cent thought.

They do have tough job if they have to stop people for doing 190 mph!!!!!!
Lecturing people and doing that speed is a little bit of pot calling the kettle black....

I stated that I did something extremely wrong for which there is no excuse.
As for the pot calling the kettle black, I think you did not understand what the example stood for. It was to show how WRONG AND DANGEROUS was what I did.

Well I don't think they would be able to effectively chase down a car going at that speed. Those Crown Vics aren't capable of more than 120 or 130MPH.

Ever tried to drive a Crown Vic? I once rented one of those tanks...I really do not understand why the police is equipped with those. They should have at least given them an Impala SS or a TrailBlazer SS. Here in Toronto, the police are equipped with a pretty shoddy fleet:

Crown Vic (cruiser)
Chevy Impala (cruiser)
Ford Econoline Van (for unknown purposes)
Ford Focus (parking ticket)
Chevy Cavalier (parking ticket)
Chevy Suburban (cruiser)
Horse (cruiser)
"Specialized" Bicycle (cruiser)

Just this one time, I saw a Chrysler 300C Hemi RCMP car. Those are our FBI guys.

But usually they are not piloting 300+ horse machines. Usually they are piloting a horse (for real).

Bad luck with the ticket. I got caught by a camera van equipped with a laser system - now very common in the UK. We don't use radar any longer except on fixed camera sites and even they are beginning to go to induction loop systems in the road. We have 'Safety Partnerships' who operate vans equipped with cameras and if you break the limit you get your piccie taken and a letter in the post. Usual fine £60-00 plus 3 points. Get 12 points or more and you're off the road.

Having been caught three years ago I now use GPS based systems in our vehicles. Not sure if they're legal where you are, but they provide a useful backup to the speedo.

Having measured both of our bimmers with GPS speed indication systems the car speedos tend to indicate around 6-7% high at 70mph. 80mph indicated is approx 75mph GPS.

In the UK, speedos are not allowed to under-read and and must be within 10% +/- 2mph at 30mph.

Our E46 and E53 are both accurate to this tolerance over-reading 2mph at 30 mph indicated, and both give a GPS reading of 75mph for an indicated 80 on the speedo.

if you were trying to show how it was WRONG and DANGEROUS you should not have been going that speed. and might i remind all of us that on the autoban even with parts of "unlimited" speed the statistics show less accidents than here in the US with our 50mph limits. the speed limit by the way was not initially created for life saving purposes but for gas consumption as it was between 50-60 that the consumption is less. regardless no cops are not pigs or pricks however in my experience they do choose to "pick" on the ones that they know will not give them trouble vs the ones that really deserve it. I was 16 and riding a BICYCLE at the beach, have done that for years but one day a cop tells us get of the bikes so we do and as we are walking out of the park within 10 feet of the exit we get on to leave so he decides to be smart and chases us then lecturing on how we "disobeyed" him. yes we sure "DID" but he knew we were not going to give him trouble and were an easy target. their job is indeed difficult yet they DO abuse the privalage

i got the cobra laser & radar detector it works.........before i bought the detector i got pulled over 3 times but since i just came from 1 year rotation deployment in irak (we never stop in any traffic light ) i got back i wanst stoping in the traffic light either i took me a couple months to get used to driving here...the cops understand and let me go with a warning.also i spent 3 years in germany driving fast in the autobahn.
