Which non-smart phone to get?

Hi all,

I am with ATT, no contracts. In need of a new
unlocked non smart phone.

Looking for a basic phone with excellent reception & good
speakerphone for voice communication and some texting.

Which brand to get (& model #) and where? I did some research
and it looks like Nokia and Samsung are the "better ones".

I don't want to go thru ATT because they insist on a 2 year
contract. I rather just pay for a new phone ($50 to $100 range).

Which one to get? Need your help.

Thanks

I really enjoyed my old Motorola SLVR. Thing was a beast, made with metal backing etc. also liked the AT&T razr. Which was a lot better quality than the VZW one. They can probably be had for cheap on eBay these days

Non-smart phone??? You might have to steal from a museum.

Check out this selection of new unlocked AT&T phones.

I have been using a Nokia 7230 since last June and really like it. It has good call quality and very good battery life (3-4 days even if I'm using it heavily), and doesn't cost too much- I paid €120 inkl. the 19% VAT when I bought it. It has many of the functions of upper-end phones: internet, apps for certain email processes, Opera Mini browser, it plays video, has a media player and radio tuner, a slideshow of your photo album, and Ovi Maps which is included, plus more.

It is also quad band and thus will work in GSM countries. The problem? It is not for sale in North America- you'll have to get someone overseas to buy/receive the shipment then forward it onto you. In my case, I was in Germany anyway so I had it sent to the hotel where I picked it up.

Furthermore, it was never able to connect AT&T's internet, which is one of two big reasons why I switched to T-mobile. It just isn't configured to receive AT&T's internet because they're just.......weird. The internet works with every other provider I've tried: T-mobile, Vodafone, Vodacom (SA).

I still have a Palm 700P that works with Verizon. About 6 months ago
I walked into a Verizon store and started a temp plan to test coverge
in my area. Although it's a smart phone I started service without a contract
and without a data plan and I could have kept that plan.

Of course they tried with the 2 year contract offer but my argument
was simple: Verizon isn't subsidizing my phone. I own my phone.
So theres no reason for a 2 year contract.
