I was looking for direction on reliability and the like, the last Dells were disappointments.

No PC xpert, but I have 4, and am also in the hunt to replace the FL Joint desktop, but really don't want a laptop to replace it with...

I like Dell, I like HP...and, if you dig into that site that QwkAg put up, it shows some kick azz 'gamer'/high powered PC both desktop and lap. Some are brands I've barely heard of, but obviously have a following. I don't 'game' other than playing bridge once a week and poker a couple times a month, 'live & in person'.

But, that site and others like it, show some good PCs. And, imo, 'reliability' is so anecdotal that it is analogous to asking 'how reliable is one's BMW', (Chevy, MB, et al), imo.

If you took a poll on the two big PC brands, you would probably get a 50-50 split, so if you don't 'like Dell' hunt HP, ZT, et al. And, what the hell does 'reliable' in a PC mean anyway.

PS: in laptops, I have 2, neither of which are 'gamer tops'. One is an HP, which went screen gonzo after 3 years, and one is an Acer that has run like my Rolex for a year, even being carted around the country this summer, all Fwiw.
