...and the strike is over!!!

I was just starting to get used to my mile-and-a-half walk twice a day, too

Maybe it's me, but isn't the era of early 20th century labor tactics just about over? I have a old friend in Starbucks Coffee's general council's office and even THEY are dealing with chaos and nonsense from idealogues who seem to have forgotten the reason unions were vitally important in the first place. Please don't make me explain it! Please?

Oh well. Rant off.

Back to the topic of the board, it's amazing how many people park their really nice cars at train stations EVERY DAY to commute into New York. In Princeton Junction, you name the BMW, you'll see it parked. M3? Check. M5? Check. New 6 'vert? Check. Oh yeah, there's a clutch of Porsche Turbos, too. Whatever happened to "train cars?"

Sorry for the random post. It's been a while since I checked in here... thought I'd say Hi!

I'm sorry but unions are one of the worst things for an economy. There is no logical way to say otherwise.

I agree - please note the use of the word "were" as in past-tense, in my post. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, they had a vital role to play in the protection of basic worker rights. Now... ensuring free health care forever for everyone? Please!!!

$1 million a day penalty would do that ROLFMAO ---> unions got a big serving of justice ownage.. hahahha... only matter of time before their funds run out, even if they got 60-75% of their member's paychecks regularly...

All Hail The New York Transit Worker

'Twas five days before Christmas and all through the town; Not a train was
up running, they'd all been shut down.

The turnstiles were locked and the stations were cleared, in hopes that Old
Bloomberg would give them their share.

The workers were nestled all snug in their booths; Where oft they're found
sleeping, to tell you the truth.

Toussaint wants their pensions to be like the cops' - you know, 'cause it's
stressful announcing each stop.

Alas, from the public arose such a clatter, Their leader seems not to have
thought out the matter.

With shoppers not shopping and travel delayed, public support dwindled, New
Yorkers' nerves frayed.

You dumb, lazy morons! The people did cry. Pensions the same as the FDNY?
It'll cost us a fortune, illiterate twits!

The people weren't happy. In fact, they threw fits.
There's strength in a union, or so they believed but not before Christmas -
now everyone's peeved.

It's terrible timing for stranding the masses; If Reagan were here he'd have
fired you're @$$es.
