Since you mentioned some similar vehicles...the latest Motor Trend has a piece about the Toyota Highlander Hybrid- it gets to 60 almost as quick as an X5!

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend the CRV. Back when I had one I always felt unsafe when ever it rained or when it was slightly windy b/c it caused to sway a bit too much.
I would go for the subaru. Good luck in your decision.

Rangerfan -
Sorry I can't offer any help with your car list. I am only familiar with the Accord and the Explorer. The Accord was a zero maintenance car (2 Accords), ride was decent, space was ok, mileage was good, safety was good, and the interior took a beating and held up pretty good. Design was less than inspiring but you aren't looking for your main sports car either. The Explorer was low maintenance and, despite was you hear on the news, saved my life in a terrible accident (AWD '99 Eddie Bauer). I was T-boned at speed 7-months ago. It rolled it end over end twice, and sideways three times, and skidded upside down 180 ft. My wife and I walked away with just scratches. The truck was totaled of course but the interior held up amazingly. We had an angel riding with us I think. Now you can get the third row seating but I wouldn't buy another due to so many other good options in that price range. I towed, hauled, and mudded in that truck, and never had any problems at all in 50K miles. If I had to guess I would probably start with the Mazda wagon for bang/buck and space/safety/reliabilty ratios. Since you can get a great price on a Subaru that seems logical to check that one out fully too. Best of luck in your search. |
