Switching the wife from MB to BMW

My wife is currently driving a 2003 MB E320. She really likes it, but since our son is getting old enough to sit in the front soon (12 next summer), she is itching to get out of the "sedate sedan" and back into something sportier. She likes the little Lexus SC430, and also considers the MB SL500 her dream car.

I really want to stick with BMW. She had a BMW 325 once upon a time (bought new in 1987), but she doesn't like the look of the current 3 or 5 series BMW's, for some reason. We are thinking of the next vehicle in 6-8 months.

Suggestions?

Just get an SL65 and enjoy it too (if you can get it from her ). The Lexus is nice but I'm not too fond of the body style.

Doc, my wife drives a 04 E320 wagon (3 kids and 3rd seat = invaluable) and will not leave the 3rd seat (or MB) except for '06 M5...... I'm SOL. Better luck to you!

Your 650 is so sweet!! I did show her the pics when you posted them, and that was the first BMW of recent years that she really liked. Of course, it had to be an expensive one!

Well, just one kid. It was somewhat traumatic for her to switch to a 4 door car in the first place, when he was born. She used to drive a Mazda RX7, and liked the sportiness.

Oh, I can tell you the reason: They're ugly!!

The new 5-Series has grown on me, and when I test-drove the e90 I LOVED the handling; having said that, I still can't get past that styling, and the interior is... "spartan" to say the least. I can't say I blame her. Has she test-driven them? Maybe that will help you sway her?

My wife loves both the CLK and the SLK. They are both great, sporty cars. That new 6-Series IS a sweet ride. How about a P-car Boxter? Not a BMW, but it should work.

I wouldn't touch the SC430 if I were you. Is she wants to stay with the MB camp then what about the CLS 500? Beautiful lines!! If she wants something sporty then gotta go BMWs: 650i or even the facelifted 750i.

A 3 series would be a step down from the E. I say either a 5-Series, or a Z4<--jus somethin a bit sporty!
