Spring is here, and I have a hole in my wall...
Large pic of the above Large pic of the above The bad news is that amidst my renovation of the 4th floor bathroom, I seem to have blown a hole through a wall with my novice demolition skills. Here's what it on the back side of the wall I was demolishing. Can you say LOL? LOL at least I can lay tumbled marble OK... Large pic of the above Large pic of the above Large pic of the above EDIT: That hole looks like what a mortar shell would leave on a concrete wall. Hehehehe!

Looks like you have your work cut out for you, Ian. Looking forward to seeing the "after" pics. Mickey set the bar pretty high on the before/after shots, so get busy!!

I don't know what the hell it is in that wall. There is some sort of concrete layer, cuz I had to use a Bosch HammerDrill to pry off the old tiles and stuff.
I should be done with that bathroom by Wednesday. I'll post pictures. Naturally, I am not an expert construction worker, but I can do a decent job. :p The next project is the kitcken. I'm demolishing my kitchen on the 2nd floor, and installing a brand new one from scratch on the 1st floor which will take up the WHOLE floor. New appliances and all, cabinets like Mickey's, just my granite top will be a lighter shade.

Good luck on the renovations Bavarian!
My previous job was renovation, primarily the demolition side of it But I also did drywall, tiling, bricklaying etc, etc, and I can tell you, thats not a hole!, well, not one that I've made![]() it was a dog of a job, so now I'm a trainee die setter/caster at a leading aluminium casting plant Much better than bricklaying when its 5* outside

The last picture with the plaster missing shows (if I am interpreting the brown stripe correctly) a moisture therefore rust issue?
Is that where the tap fittings were? Are you running another row of tiles above the skirting (1st row of vertical tiles)? If so, you may find that the plaster set over the hard wall needs to be scored with a screwdriver for better purchase of the adhesive. Otherwise the tiles are only glued to the paint, which may come away if previous coats were not prepped properly.

Although that dose look like unpainted hard plaster render where the vanity unit was, which is fine for sticking tiles. As is unpainted drywall and fibre-cement sheat, which is what I mainly used for tiling.
