Yes! It was much more peaceful! It was more crowded than I thought it would be, but NC-12 wasn't packed or at a stand-still like it is during the summer season.

Crazy pics, Michelle!

I hope your bedroom wasn't on the top floor. That house looks like the inspiration for The Stairmaster!

LOL No...4 of the 5 bedrooms were on the 2nd (middle) floor. The master was on the 3rd floor (with the kitchen and living area).

Here is a picture looking down the staircase from the sitting room that is abvoe the 3rd floor:

Here is a picture looking up from the bottom floor:

Nice pictures and it looks like a nice place to take some time off too!

I can imagine you trying to get down to the first floor after a few drinks LOL

I like, I have the same issue, driving to the beach, there is no road so I have to drive 14klm up the beach. Low tide is ok but high tide is alittle hairy in the X5.

Your beach looks like its very windy, moving sand dunes etc.

Wow how cool is this. Can I get more info on this place. Is that beach swim-able? Amazing pics, and looks like tons of fun. I would be offloading all over the place.

I went to search OBX rentals, how do I find one that is also on the beach? Or are all of them the same-ish, location wise. I really want to drive on the sand. lol.

Wow, i never thought that there are shores in the US that are still not developed by the big corporations and the hotels... I drove on the beaches in Latin America and saw some beatiful sunsets... Never knew it could be done in the US...

The OBX are a set of barrier islands on the very outskirts of NC. There are no high rises and generally few chain stores, mostly a family-friendly set of vacation homes. Because it's very susceptible to beach erosion simply due to its narrow-ness and orientation, the NC gov't spends millions every year dredging to replace the sandbar. In fact, Hurricane Sandy severely damaged the only road along it, NC 12 and they've had to run extra ferries and quickly try and rebuild the two-lane road. No question, there's a big effort to keep the OBX as nice as they currently are.

Driving on the beaches is permitted in certain places and at certain times, just gotta look up the info first and find the places where its permitted, as some places are a wildlife refuge so naturally they can't have you driving everywhere.

The rental company that has the house we rented is Sun Realty. This property was # CV-42. The area that requires beach driving is Carova, NC. Another nice rental company in OBX is Carolina Designs. Maybe call both offices and ask away! They should be able to find you exactly what you're looking for!
