Anyone have Fast Lane/E-Z Pass toll systems?

Does anyone use the Fast Lane/ EZ Pass, etc. systems on the toll roads in your state? New Hampshire has installed an EZ Pass system which they expect to open in May. Has anyone/does anyone use these? I know I'll be getting one, but I just want to hear input on how well they work, how efficient they are, how they work, etc..
Thanks,
CJ

it works pretty well down here in MD. Best thing the DOT has done in a while. I'm hoping that it becomes the norm everywhere, although it might just be an East Coast thing. From what I understand, it works from Northern VA, up I-95 to NJ. It also works at most other toll stops in MD, VA, and parts of PA & OH.

I really wish that eventually you don't have to slow down at all for it to register, but it sure beats waiting in those lines when I need to get to the Eastern Shore of MD.

In California it's called Fastrak http://www.511.org/fastrak/ good for the whole State. It's a good thing. No looking for money and 90% of the time theres no waiting to pay the toll (The bay bridge being the exception) They still need more lanes for that.

California has traditionally been toll-free. Hence they name the highways "Freeways".

However, there are toll roads popping up all over Orange County in SoCal to aid in the congestion. There are quicker ways to bypass different areas of Orange County by taking these Toll Roads. It is not required to take them to get to these places, but it sure saves time.

Also since 1996, there is 10 mile stretch between Anaheim and Corona (between Orange and Riverside counties) on the 91 Freeway where there is a "Fast-Trak" toll lane which allows you to and from those areas much faster because the regular freeway lanes are usually congested. The tolls go up and down depending on demand (higher chances of traffic, the higher the cost of the toll lanes) and you can save up 30-45 minutes!

Both of those use those white square transitter which I have had one since 1996 since its inception. The east coast adopted the same technology as well around the same time.

I would recommend getting that EZ-Pass in the east coast right away.

Used daily back in NY/NJ...still own and use it for the 4 runs per yr from the Mtn to northeast. It has been absolutely fautless in the decade I've had my lil'gizmo. Load up the CC on your app.; drive and get a monthly/qtrly statement.

EZ Pass is by far one of the smarter things the DOT has done. Also, if you use it, you get like a dollar discount versus paying full price at a cash lane. I would recommend using a CC when signing up for one. So whenever you pass through one of those EZ Pass lanes, you won't get stuck at the tollbooth wondering why you can't get through. With prepaid ez pass, you gotta keep track of how much or how often you go through the ez pass lanes.

We just got EZ pass this year in Maine, CJ. Works like a charm. In fact, a couple of weeks ago I drove down to NYC, and the Hampton toll is the only toll on the whole trip I had to open my window for. Glad to hear NH is getting it also.

FYI, I spray painted my EZ pass black, including the two velcro mounting strips they included. Place it up behind your windshield rear view mirror. You'll never notice the thing from inside or outside that way. Make sure to put a piece of masking tape first over the part that has serial # information, then remove after painting.

I love stealth stuff....
