Ricky Bobby will become famous soon enough
Artem your dent looks similar to one on my rear quarter panel, my X was previously owned in NYC and impeccably clean now but once I polished and really got the car clean to my liking, I noticed I have a dent similar to your size on the left rear quarter, a dent about that size on the roof, a small crease in the left front fender and some small very shallow dents on the hatch lid, no scratch marks however.

I'm hoping in the spring a visit to the local PDR guy will yield me good results for a couple hundred bucks, but i'm just like you, i tell it to my CEO that she just has to get used to it, for all the amount of time and money i spend to keep our vehicles in tip top clean shape, we are never in that much of a hurry that we can't walk an extra couple minutes in a parking lot.

Absolutely infuriates me as well that i make a point to be the farthest person out in the lot and some asshat decides "look at this guy with his nice car trying to park away from everyone, i'll park right next to him then". Doesn't happen as often because I really park in the middle of nowhere, but if it does, and i see the person doing it i'd definitely ask if there weren't enough spots elsewhere for him?

Btw JB, you know whats worse than parking in a lot far away and someone coming up next to you? It's when you take absolute care and certainty when you DO HAVE TO park next to someone in a lot, that you center your car in the space and don't park too far back, forward, etc, then you come out and some asshat HAS THEIR TIRES ON THE WHITE LINES OF THE SPACE NEXT TO YOU AND IS PARKED COCKEYED.

Not gonna lie I may have done a few minor swipes of my key in the past when finding that.

Dude I park as close to the row's end edge as possible. That way they can have half of my spot too. Because they're sure as fuck going to take it.

Crazy when you consider these mouth breathers operate that large of a machine at speed.

I've come to accept the ding or two on a 9 year old car as inevitable.

If y'all think that's bad, some douche in SC forced folded my driver's side electric mirror earlier this year. As my vehicle has electric folding mirrors, this is a no-no, but because many South Carolinians cannot squeeze between a gap that's less than 2 metres wide, I guess this person thought it'd be okay.

It physically looked okay but it broke the mirror connections. New electric mirror housing and installation at the dealer? $900. Because of someone's idiocy.

I agree that a ding or two is inevitable. But speaking of some parking idiots....

I had reached the top of a several-km climb, on my road bike. I pulled to the side of the road under a shade tree and stopped for a break. Paved residential street, with curbs. I hear a car behind me, moving fairly slowly. I made sure I was right up against the curb. Then he drove over my left foot. With a Toyota Camry. He stopped in front of me, no acknowledgement. I went up and knocked on his window. He was surprised. I asked him what he was doing. He said he was just parking. Witnesses behind him stopped to make sure I was OK, offered their contact details. Parking dude just looked confused, wondered what all the fuss was about.

So I don't worry about the occasional ding. I wish it wouldn't happen, but when it does I am thankful it wasn't a child or other person the idiot hit.

The incident occurred when I used to live in Greenville, SC. I'm south of Asheville now. Thank god I'm back in NC.

And @ JCL- I can't believe the driver didn't notice! I mean, any closer and he'd completely run you over. Talk about not knowing where the 4 corners of the vehicle are....and wow your foot was still intact?

He brushed me with his rear fender at 10 or 15 km/hr or so, but it was the right rear wheel that went over my shoe that amazed me. A lightweight cycling shoe, with no crush protection, but no lasting damage to it or me. The two elderly ladies who were driving behind him were shocked, they stopped to see if I was OK. He was 60 or so, and completely oblivious. The two witnesses told him what they thought of him. I just left the scene, shaking my head.
