We're so sorry... another rant.

So, I go over to sears today to get a tool - I am rebuilding the calipers on one of my cars.

I find a spot where the X should be safe for a while - pretty far from the mall entrance and no cars nearby.

I get my tool and come out.

There is a family of 6 (mom, dad, older son and 3 youngers) getting out of a car - don't remember what make/model - there are STILL EMPTY SPOTS ALL OVER, they still parked right next to me.

I speed up. As I am coming closer I see the father holding the back door as the oldest kids are getting out on the driver side - my passenger side. So, I relax a little but still, I put on more speed to try to get in and get gone. As I get in I see the family milling around - all the kids are out of the car except the youngest - he is now reopening the closed door.

Soon as I get the key in the ignition I look over again and there is Jr. basically swinging on the car door as it opens. Blam, Blam, Blam. I yell "mother f**ker" as I look at the kid - the mom is looking at me. I get out of the car and go over to the passenger side. The mother, who has a look of terror on her face says "so sorry" in a barely audible voice. I just mummer "I bet you are." The oldest say "were sorry sir." I almost ignore him as I go looking for damage.

Now, the father comes over and snatches the kid by the arm and starts slapping him on the head and yelling something - I could not tell what. I stare at the father ask "Why are you hitting the kid - it's your fault." He looks back at me for a minute while trying to decided if he is going to jump or not. Then he also says "sorry."

I didn't see any damage so I get back in and go.

The reason I got so pissed is that like so many incidents with young kids IT SEEMS anyone with any bit of common sense could see what was coming while the parents are amazed... It was a chain of events that led directly to my door being pummeled, yet they are all so surprised "and sorry" when it happens.

Rant over.
