Mark Messier Night tune in alert

For those hockey fans on the board, if you get MSG Network on your cable provider, Thursday night at 7 EST, MSG will be airing Mark Messier night where the Rangers will be retiring #11 and raising it to the rafter of the Worlds Most Famous Arena prior to the Rangers/Oilers game. MSG does a very nice/classy job when it comes to these nights, so even if you're not a hockey fan but you're a sports fan, it should prove to be a night to remember.

Messier certainly had a huge impact on hockey albeit less apparent than say Gretzky or other stars. When you hear about the impact he had on teams and some individual players, it's more impressive to me. Many players on the various teams he played on have credited Messier for teaching them how to be a better player and how to be a leader. Plus he bagged Madonna.

I will be there in front of the TV (in Hi Def ) with my 5 year old son, watching the festivities. There will be many a tear spilled, both in the arena and in my house! I've got the Stanley Cup banner hanging on my office wall about 18 inches from the laptop I am typing this on, and a photo of Messier ripping THE CUP from Bettman's hands, signed by #11 himself, on the other wall. 1994 was worth the past 7 years of futility.

No I Can Die In Peace!

#11, I to you!!

BTW, this thread should be a sticky.

I've got my Messier jersey on the chair in my office all ready to go... meeting my crew at Cosby's at 6:30, should have a beer and a dog down the hatch by 6:50, camera position scouted out and my butt planted in it by 7.... I'll post pics tomorrow if I get lucky and get some good ones.

Just for the record, while Messier was no Gretzky, let's not forget he had 1887 points, good for 2nd all time, Howe being 3rd.
