Life is short, Matt; an occasional & careful on the edge is recommended.

129 from Robbinsville up to the Dragon is my favorite stretch. Also, I prefer the Cherohala Skyway to the Dragon.

I ride the BRPkway weekly, as the Waynesville entrance is < 20 mins from our Mtn house.
I love the BRP; the Cherohala is even better, higher elevations, less known and much less crowded.

Deal's Gap, although I have ridden/driven it dozens and dozens of times, is more of a list road vs fun. Rt 129, from R'ville to the Gap, on an empty weekday morning is sublime, imo.

Thanks mD! The X5 felt better suited on the Cherohala Skyway, with the long sweepers and such. It's just so much mass to sling around the tight corners of The Dragon. The friction rings got a little hot there... didn't fade though so I'll take it.
