Filibuster and it's last remaining power
Mitch MConnell wants the senate democrats to promise not to remove the power of filibuster over legislations. Exercising this final nuclear option to remove the filibuster power over legislation could have significant impact not just for the next 4 years, but for many more years to come. A little background on this interesting rule: filibuster rule is the mechanism for stopping a senator from talking on and on, to stop him/ her from occupying the floor and delay say the confirmation of a possible appointment of a public official so that the senate can move forward with a vote on the said confirmation.

Its gone.
Dems have too much they need to get done to protect our democracy. While the republican party is busy eating itself, we need voter right legislation- so we can be assured no more voter suppression. Once people realize dems arent going to eat their babies, and the country is actually doing better, it will be a generation or two before republicans rebuild. Frankly their only option is to try and cheat- look at all the state level voter suppression that is getting cranked up. I think it is laughable that the dems will think 'If we leave it alone, the republicans will do the same if they ever control the senate." Utterly laughable. They will kill it and declare "it was the dems that started it". Kill it. Lets move on. |
