So you're voting for Obama because McCain might die Good call
Why not vote for someone you actually agree with

I'm voting for the ticket that will prevent Palin from possibly becoming our President.
IMHO, that is a very important vote. I'd rather have mediocrity than another atrocity.

Or rather, I'd rather have someone that I believe could do a decent job even if I don't agree with many of their views rather than vote for someone whose second in command would further destroy this country.
With McCains age and health history, it's a very serious consideration.

"Senator Obama believes he can't not afford to keep his promise to cut taxes for 95 percent of workers and their families," he added, insisting the crisis would not derail the Democrat's signature economic commitment.

This is something he never mentioned that would cause him to lose many votes.

Quote:
The plan would extend a temporary tax credit of 3,000 dollars for each new job created in the United States by firms over the next two years.
Tell me how this would help people from losing their jobs ?? I have close to 30 employees and don't need anymore. So how the hell would this be beneficial to small business like mine ?? Should I should lay off my entire workforce and re-hire them? I'm having a hard enough time as it is to to meet my monthly payroll. On top of that there's the insurance. I haven't paid myself for nearly 8 months already. So tell me what the hell am I work so hard for ?? Why the hell should I stay in business ?? At this point I'm running a charity and this credit for NEW jobs is only a slap in the face.

Quote:
It would permit families to withdraw up to 10,000 dollars from their retirement accounts penalty-free, and create a new lending facility for states and localities to have access to funds beyond the frozen credit markets.
This is a bad idea and will cause further destabalization of the market. Americans don't save enough as it is and by give them an incentive to pull out the savings without penalty only contributes to the problem.

Quote:
And it would impose a 90-day moratorium on the threat of foreclosure for homeowners who are trying "in good faith" to keep up with repayments to a lender benefiting from the Wall Street bailout passed by Congress.
A moritorium is a legally authorized period of delay in the performance of a legal obligation or the payment of a debt.

So Obama want's to give people that are on the verge of foreclosure another 90 days to stay in their homes without payment. So what do you think will happen after that 90 days ?? You will have to pay a jumbo payment equal to 3 months or face foreclosure. This is nothing more than giving people who could not afford their homes in the first place an extra 3 months to not pay their mortgage.

This will also stop dividends from being paid in MBS causing further illiquidity of these funds, causing CDS to be paid, which will end in the collapse of the rest of our major financial institutions.

Obama's proposals will wipe out the middle-class and rewards those that were misled to believe they were middle class.

Obama has some good ideas but his ideas are for another time. We have a problem of moral hazard and lame duck politics that needs to be fixed in this country. Both parties have contributed to the problem, but it is a fact that the democrats made it possible for things to get out of hand and put our country in our present situation.

I have to agree that the moratorium on foreclosures is not going to do much but give people who are going to be foreclosed on anyway a free place to live for 3 months. It is not a substantial fix.

What percentage of people that can't afford their house payments right now do you think are going to be in a better position to afford them in 3 months? My guess is no more than about 15%.

Back to the drawing board Obama.

BTW Obama's propositions are for these to be in affect immediately. He does nothing to say that he will do this if he becomes president. Pretty damn sneaky if you ask me. 90-days is when the next president will be inaugurated. If something like this would be passed it would not be something done under his watch. He could easily throw the blame on bush like always.
