As I said in another thread, would you choose your surgeon or your lawyer based on who you thought was more of a regular guy? Of course not. So then why would you expect any less of the President?
Then you don't like the Constitution. Of the people, by the people..that whole line

You're assuming the same morons you wouldn't trust in your lawyer/surgeon reference.....could pick the right person to be a leader Go Paris Hilton and American Idol

I'm pretty sure if you gave the average person a choice to pick their lawyer between a harvard graduate elitest, and a "regular" guy who graduated from a much less known law school, 99% would choose the harvard grad. The question is, why would they not choose their president the same way?

True, true. I had a friend in high school whose parents went to Yale, so it didn't matter what his grades were, he was going to get into Yale. But that is a very small minority.

But it's not like Bush fooled anyone. When people were asked back in 2000 why they were voting for him, the most common answers I heard were things like "he is a regular guy" or "he looks like someone I could have a beer with". Nobody at all confused him with being an educated elite type.

My point was that it makes no sense. Apparently people don't think it takes much intelligence to be the president.

Oh, OK seemed like you disagreed with your own comments.

Intelligence does not always come from education. I know plenty of dysfunctional, irrational, people who make stupid decisions with a university degree. I also know brilliant people with very little formal education.
