I sure hope you are wrong about the bombings but our enemies are probably happy we are pulling away from defense spending and see us as psychologically vulnerable more now than ever with the reputation democrats bring. Deserved or not.

We just got word that our side of the house will be losing 3500 peeps 'cause of the Pentagon budget cuts.

I seem to remember Clinton cutting defense spending like crazy too...and then what happened 9 months into W's first year in office -- Sept. 11.

But come on, they didn't need jobs anyway. Probably overpaid as well by that big bad defense budget (you know defense, which should be your governments primary, not secondary, concern) Can't wait to hear what systems the Pentagon is forced to cut because of this. Clinton cut/closed which caused mass spending after wards to make up the difference...go change. I mean really, who needs weapons systems. Land based infantry wars are so much more effective.

It will be interesting to hear about the ripple effects, after the systems are cut, people are fired, and industries that would have provided supply chain for the development..halt. I'm not opposed so much to the "we're cutting 10%", since there are at least 3 organization I know we don't need first hand, as there is absolutely no direction on the cuts. Since it is being done ONLY for dollar value...we lose big time.

95% of the Pentagon's budget is not for defense of the United States, but for defending, or creating, the financial interests of large multinational corporations overseas. That is where the budget will be cut. You won't see any fewer soldiers stationed stateside or any fewer fighters guarding our homeland airspace. Maybe there will be a few less soldiers guarding some oil pipeline which brings oil from Turkmenistan to India, or a few less covert ops to decrease the influence of the environmentalists trying to stop the rainforests from being chopped down in Brazil.
