I can tell you that I personally had nothing to do with these people getting elected and I would bet the farm that X5Dawg didn't either.

Kinda funny really. The main people that I saw who were called out today for owing taxes were black and the Senate Minority Leader Robert Brown (who is also black) was quick to play the race card by showing a huge photo of Sen. Eric Johnson (the guy that called them and others out) holding our old state flag, which had a rebel cross on it. However, the photo was taken during a St. Patrick's Day parade in Savannah and the flag very well could have been our current state flag at that particular time. Pretty rediculous. Stop turning it into a racial thing and pay your freaking taxes.

Just the opposite actually. As a business owner, I can tell you that we get away with murder when it comes to taxes. The tax system in its current form is structured so that business owners pay less taxes than their employees. Capital gains tax rate is much lower than the regular income tax rate, and if a business owner has any brains, they take most of their income as capital gains. Plus, depending on what kind of business you own, you can have your business pay for quite a bit of your expenses and not pay any taxes on that money. Alternatively, regular employees have to pay income tax on most of their income, except for a few small deductions that some of them can claim.

Hold your horses...Don't speak too soon. That is only three of the 22 lawmakers considered tax dodgers. The other 19 have been redacted from the list. Hmmm...

Your partial quote of my words kinda chopped up my original statement and made it sound a little different than I intended it to. I know there were others. I wasn't insinuating that everyone involved was black. My point was that the people who's names were officially released as of yesterday were black and they were defended by the minority speaker (also black) playing the race card. That is super weak, IMO.

Every single one of them should be punished, dismissed or whatever. I just don't want to hear the race card being thrown because the person who is calling EVERYBODY out happens to be white and happened to be photographed holding the flag for the state which he represents in a parade. Give me a break. That is mega lame.

Just a question here:

Are these guys guilty of serious tax crimes, like not filing or lying on their returns, or is this more of the type that Tom Daschale was guilty of, which is like not paying payroll tax on the money you pay your babysitter or the neighborhood kid that mowes your lawn?

I would guess that 90% of us are guilty of that second type, and I don't really consider someone a criminal for that. I'm sure all of us have paid cash to someone for something at some point, or have taken cash from someone for something and not reported it to the IRS. Did you ever have a yard sale? Did you charge sales tax on those items? Did you ever hire a babysitter? Did you send her a 1099 at the end of the year? IMO, these are rather petty tax crimes.
