Knock Gavin if you want and TRUST me he has done plenty of annoying things BUT one can't bash without noting all of the great things (at least to me) he has done. Obviously the people of SF must like something about him!

You like him because he supports gay marriage, but he doesn't seem to have much respect for others....

On January 31, 2007, Newsom's campaign manager and former deputy chief of staff, Alex Tourk, resigned after confronting Newsom over a sexual affair the mayor had with Tourk's wife in late 2005.[57] At the time of the affair, Newsom was undergoing a divorce with Guilfoyle and Rippey-Tourk worked in Newsom's office as the Mayor's aide for commission appointments.[58] After leaving her job in Newsom's office in August 2006, Tourk received $10,154 in catastrophic illness pay, which is usually reserved for those who are terminally ill;[59] after an investigation by the San Francisco City attorney, however, Newsom and all those involved were later cleared of legal wrongdoing.[59]

Newsom apologized for the affair at a news conference on February 1, 2007, saying, "I hurt someone I care deeply about, Alex Tourk, his friends and family, and that is something that I have to live with and something that I am deeply sorry for." After being approached by concerned colleagues, he announced that he would seek treatment for alcohol abuse.[60] Newsom later said that the difficult times during the exposing of the affair refocused him and allowed him to better appreciate being mayor.[2]

I'm sure you're right that she hasnt been to the desert in years (if at all). Just like ANWR (which has the elusive caribou which no one realizes is actually thriving in ANWR) -- the left wing pitches energy independence and solar/wind power but has no clue as to how to get the job done. The media and the left wingers will tell you that these panels will be an eye sore and will stick out like a sore thumb -- possibly even hurt a lizard or rattler -- get over it !!! Install these things so we can truly understand that OIL will always be the major focus for energy. Alternatives will exist, but quite frankly, tell me how in the world are we going to make a solar panel or windmill power cargo ships, airplanes, etc... The only real alternative is nuclear -- but, One Big Ass Mistake America (otherwise known as OBAMA) wont consider it until switchgrass and corn can be proven failures...unbelievable.

How Did I know you were going to say that

Gavin isn't perfect. TRUST ME he has done plenty of things to warrant someone to be angry with him BUT I will always respect him.

Why?

I respect Gavin because he brought a voice to the LGBT Community and his contributions have greatly influenced the speed in which our prejudice changes to acceptance. Gavin stood up for the LGBT community at a time when realistically he could have killed himself politically. I will always admire him for standing up for a cause he believed in even with all the possibly consequences. That is truly wonderful. Future will remove the mistakes but I feel will always hold him as a true friend to the LGBT community when we needed a voice most. We (being the LGBT community) have been the punching bag for far to long (Prop 22, DOMA, Don't ask Don't Tell and recently Prop 8) and I applaud Gavin for his courage in standing up for us. I find that when people seek out culture and knowledge beyond the 4 walls of their church they find just how moronic it is the segregate a demographic and decide on how they should live their lives. Remember for every Jerry Falwell we have Harvey Milk and for each voice of hate we have a million people preaching equality.

NOW On the flip side. I don't support his "Universal Healthcare" Bid or the above referenced piece. It just depends on what you place more weight on.

At what price point to you personally, would you find this to be acceptable? .20/kWh? .30? More?

I will find it hysterical when Al-Naimi hits the go button on a major solar expansion for the Kingdom before California does.
