She resigned for 1 of 2 reasons - either she's got some type of impending scandal brewing or she plans on spending more time in the lower 48 to build support for her 2012 campaign which is almost a surety.

Neh, FBI confirmed there were no investigations into Palin (though libby bloggers tried to push that there were). Rumor mill stated that she is 500K in debt from fighting frivolous lawsuits levied at her by the left (over 14 ethics complaints I believe). Even when you're not guilty, you have to defend yourself and that costs money. IMO, I don't think she'd try to run for office again. America made it quite clear that the left wanted nothing to do with a woman running for President. Remember how hell bent the media was on Hillary being the next prez till the kool-aid began pouring? The media frenzy around Hillary made it look like she was a lock. And say what ya want about Palin, but she was a business owner and became a governor of a state, I don't think any one posting here can claim the latter credential.

IMO, McCain/Palin were lambs to the alter. The Reps knew after 8 years of Bush there was no chance they'd win so why not run a female for VP and roll your old war hero onto the playing field? Makes sense. You wouldn't want to sacrifice a Romney or someone who would really have a shot in 2012.
