Part of this decision was based on an effort to stem hostilities that could
have developed. So the folks in charge made this decision...

"They said we could wear it on any other day, but today is sensitive to Mexican-Americans because it's supposed to be their holiday so we were not allowed to wear it today"

I guess this is what happens when there are so many opinions or standards
as to what is acceptable regarding human behaviour in a case like this.

Sure, that's his statement, but I wonder if it is possible that Miguel was the one feeling upset over the shirts...

That is everything that's what's wrong with this country today.

Who knows but if we're going to "wonder if it is possible that Miguel was the one feeling upset over the shirts..." I guess one would have to wonder what
might be the motive of the young folks for wearing all the American stuff on May the 5th? Was their habit in the past? or were they trying to make a personal statement which may have been view by some as stirring the pot.

Considering that immigration is a hot button issue I just wonder what was "REALLY BEHIND" their decision.

I know you are just stirring the pot, but I don't agree at all. I think it is fair to at least question why a guy named Miguel asked them to take off american flag shirts that would be allowed on any other day. If they weren't allowed at all, it wouldn't be an issue, but why that particular day? As Wagner said, if the shoe were on the other foot, civil rights groups would be all over this.

To be honest, it doesn't matter what the students motivation for wearing the American flag shirts were. They are American flag shirts...to say they are not allowed on a Mexican holiday, but they are any other day of the year is where I (as well as everyone else) should take issue.

First excuse me, "their holiday" WTF?

Apparently we've accepted as a society that 'hostilities' are to even be anticipated at school. Very sad. Still though, I want to see the ACLU and celebs involved as they would had it been 5 students told to do the same with Mexican flagged swag. Can't wait to see Shakira out there telling us all how it is so unfair.

What's next, during February only black children can go to school to avoid any problems with "black history month"?
