^I don't disagree. Uniform free testing for all at any time would be the ideal situation. But, for different reasons in different situations, is not always feasible. Cost, long lines, long wait times for results, different testing kits/methodologies, supply, etc.

I am just over the Left vs. Right debate and everyone pretending both sides aren't two faces of the same monster. We, the majority citizens are the ones suffering and shouldering the burdens of their mind-numbing b*tching at each other. I don't care the issue, neither side will agree to compromise on anything, guns, police violence, abortion, government spending, welfare reform, campaign reform, education reform, etc. The public majority has said it wants action in these areas. They don't get anything done and it's starting to cause festering wounds throughout the country.

Perhaps it's time to update our legislative system.

"Athenian democracy developed around the fifth century B.C.E. The Greek idea of democracy was different from present-day democracy because, in Athens, all adult citizens were required to take an active part in the government. ... When a new law was proposed, all the citizens of Athens had the opportunity to vote on it."

Instead of voting for a local representative to represent us and make policy on our behalf, maybe we should have a more active role in shaping the policies ourselves.

The problem with any system ultimately is the people running them. Sooner or later the temptations of power begets corruption and corruption begets deterioration of the system and thus the quality of our lives.

And unfortunately I can only see it getting worse. Wait until there is a vaccine. There may not be enough to go around or the distribution plan is a disaster. No one knows how many will be needed or where so it's easy to screw it up. Hopefully since the vaccine has been expedited there won't be terrible reactions because it could go to full stop while both sides argue to continue to use the same vaccine at your own risk or discard the vaccine for a new one that goes through the full approval process. If there is ample vaccine and there are no problems with it, millions may want it immediately and overrun the health system. If China or Russia has a vaccine that is more effective that will be another argument over whether to buy it and is it safe to use. That will have longterm repercussions about that whichever the decision.
