How many kinds of silicone there are, we used regular silicone. The other issue I have with this is the fact the as soon as the temperature drops below 65, my drivers side rings stay dim. Now that I've contacted JL, here is the answer I got:

You are experiencing the cold start issue with arises when the rings
get cold. They will pop right to life when you start the car or run the
engine for a bit. We do have cold weather ballasts available for
purchase which eliminate this issue. The only problem is that the ballasts do
decrease the life span of the rings from 19 to about 10 years assuming
you use them 3 hours a day 365 days a year.

I think this is BS and we shouldn't have to pay for cold weather ballast after dishing out $200. On top of that, mine don't come back to life at all unless the temperature goes north of 65.
JL SHOULD DEF ADDRESS THIS ISSUE.
