So who drives the Silver X with the Temporary German plates??

As far as I know you can't do a Euro delivery on an X5 and even if you bought one in Europe they don't have the EPA mods on them for US emissions.

Just an interested question as to how they got on the car??

That would be Rob_. I'm not sure how Rob_ got the plate, but getting those plates is not that difficult. There are tons of sites that offer them.

Thanks Kaefer,

I know its not legal to do in California for more than 30 days or until your plates arrive and the plates have to be registered to the vehicle. Have seen them for sale on eBay after ED folks take them off.

By the way it looks like you guys had a whale of a time. Myself and the other X owner on this board Ajogu are looking to get together and take some pictures. Then you can ask me what a California registered X is doing in Europe.

BTW if anyone is considering driving around Europe for a year I can certainly advise them on all the technicalities of shipping and insuring your car for driving around Europe.

Rob_ had temporary tags or permit(while waiting for his X5World tag) on and happen to have a euro plate so he decided to put in on while his temp tags was somewhere in the trunk(supposedly taped on the rear window but fell off...) But he now has the X5World tag so all is good.
