Just got off the phone with them. Not much of a group rate, really. They quoted me $189 per night, to which I responded: "So, you're knocking ten bucks off the price?" She said, "oh, that's the rate you're getting? That's a very good rate" (which, it is). She said she could go as low as $179 with a signed contract -- which meant I'd be responsible for no fewer the 10 rooms booking -- or, the money would come out of my pocket. I don't know that 20 bucks is worth this hassle... I mean, I love all of you and all, but there IS a limit!

Let's book there, anyway. I think it will be a blast.

RE: Ritz...I musta been snoozing. I looked at the board a dozen times this afternoon and there were about 3 new posts.

I look now, at 5:00, and there are hundreds.

NEway, is the RC close in to what we are doing? I ask because I am fookin paranoid of having a bev or two and having to drive very far.

If the RC is the deal lettme know and we'll do it, too.

I haven't stayed in a RC since I was working and living off that fat ExpAcct...I may have to skip some lunches to offset this potential cost, budget-wise.

According to JV all the hotels he listed are within 10 miles of the event.

C'mon buddy. You only live once. Make that reservation. Don't worry, you won't have to spend a penny on Friday night when you come to my place, and I can guarantee you some of the best food and wine around.

Make sure you guys book at the Ritz at Pentagon City (we have 4 RC's here) and it's just about 10 miles from the RC Pentagon City to the meet location. The Ritz is also 2 miles from where we're going for dinner, with easy access to 395 (that's I-95 through Alexandria, Arlington and DC proper)so it'll be very convenient. It's also 1 Metro(subway) stop from National Airport, so you wouldn't even have to rent a car if you book there, making it about as cheap as the Hilton or Courtyard for anyone flying in.

$189 is a VERY GOOD price for that hotel, and there's not any stuffiness there. Just bring some $1's to throw a few tips here and there and you'll be all set. I'm a RC frequent guest and about the most anti-formal dude you'll ever know.

Juan, let me know if you want me to visit the RC in person tomorrow and set up a group-thang.

I hear ya MD, I will have to stay 2 nights. Add that to the flight, and this potential trip is adding up quickly.

I just checked their website, (maybe the slowest site I've seen in awhile), and they want 189 +++. I just called and the res person would not budge a freaking inch. With taxes, taxes and parking, it will be $250.

I'm not sold, either way, yet. But, we are coming.

It isn't really the dough, it's the principle of a qtr of a grand for 6 hours with my eyes closed, lol!
