Ordering a 335i Next Week, Thoughts?
The wife and I have decided to order a 335 next week after some deliberation. We considered the Infinity G35 and the Lexus 350, but I think the 335 is the right choice. What do you guys think?
We went through this same thought process before buying her is300 three years ago and we always regretted not getting the 3 series. I know this is the first production year for their new engine, but hopefully most of the bugs have been worked out. I've read everything I can find online and I'm pretty much sold, but the knowledge pool at X5world has never let me down before so I figured I'd ask. |
I'd have either the 335 or Lexus IS over the G35......but between the Lexus and 335 it is a tough choice. The IS is cheaper and Toyota has an insane reliability rating, however the 335 is tight. Guess it is personally what you like.

:congratulations: on your 335i decision. You're buying an M3 in sheep's clothing. What's not to like (except for the ultra-bland interior)? It's already been documented that the 335i engine is probably pushing 340hp at the flywheel.
OK, who stole the congratulations smilie? |
Thanks all, we actually considered waiting because, as you know, BMW usually brings out sportier wheels and front fascias as the years for each model progress, but waiting is really an understated activity. I'm sure the whole sleeper thing will be fun for a while before the Mustang GT drivers of the the world catch on...
Hold on son, Daddy's driving... JK, no racing with children in the car.:) |
I wouldn't say insane.. They just issued a huge recall on Highlanders, Rav4s and Corollas. I've seen a lot of 335i's coming back into the dealer for overheating. I would personally wait to get through the 1st year growing pains. The new G35s is a pretty well put together car. Lots of HP and interior now is 1st class for mid 30K, can't be beat price and performance wise. The IS350 and 335i's are pricey.

New G35 with manual and limited options (perf package/Nav/Sat radio) brings you in around $40K....right beside the Lexus and BMW.
IMO the new G35 look is horrible. I thought the previous body was much better. -- eh, for what its worth: http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/2...o_head_20.html |
The new G35 is a good value. Lots of techno-goodies, much lower price. It's fast, but the engine apparently lacks refinement.. Up in the higher RPMs, its very rough. Also, I think it's ugly. the 335i is the best choice, IMO.

The new G35 is a fantastic car, and an even better value. This isn't to discredit the 335i by any means, but G35 brings more to the table overall accounting for other features and prices. Since the previous generation of Nissan's, they have been producing some of the best naturally aspirated engines in the world bar supercars.
