what are you talking about Charles??? even without the secondary oil cooler the tranny wasn't the issue. We're talking about engine OIL temp. totally unrelated...

I know it has nothing to do with the engine oil. Just threw that in there because with high oil temps, the engine will probably not last as long as a naturally aspirated car, but with the high torque that twin-turbo is outputing, the auto tranny probably won't last either. The thread was 335i with auto tranny with overheating problem....I know it was about whether there was a secondary oil cooler or not, etc., etc.

Time for you to start on a mood stabilizer! :)

Besides, you are the one who threw in that BMW forgot to "throw in a working SMG tranny for your M5!" My colleague's E60 M5 is still work fine with no problems with the car whatsoever. So I guess he's the lucky one. He has over 5K miles on it already and it is his daily driver.

Besides, you'll be in another car in one year anyhow!

since when is 300ft/lb a lot for a 6 speed ZF??? there are plenty of cars with more torque than that namely the MB's and Audi's and Bentley... why do you keep talking out of your ass when you have no clue WTF you're talking about...

Well, ZF trannies do die quite on V8's producing similar torque numbers on BMWs.

And yes, my ZF tranny on my Mercedes did die as well. Just talking out of experience, not out of your potty mouth like you!;)

So, who is going to buy your 335i now?

yet again you fail to mention the particulars that your tranny died at what??? 200K miles on the mercedes and none of these trannies that you speak of are the new 6 speeds. All irrelevant info again.

Mercedes tranny died at 125K miles. You are correct, we don't know what the longevity issue of the new 6-speed auto tranny until the next few years. However, given BMW's track record with auto trannies, it hasn't been great lately.

My ZF auto tranny in my E30 lasted 295K miles.

However, there are quite a few 5-speed ZF auto tranny in Mercedes are dying before 100K miles. The particulars are that Mercedes also had this "lifetime fill" ATF BS just like BMW did.

Just curious, in your 335i, does BMW recommend ATF fluid changes at 100K miles now or earlier?
