I agree - we have an E46 M3 vert and the harsh suspension makes it a boneshaker as a daily driver especially on the lunar landscape of the streets of Boston.
I prefer the E46 shape but my money would go to the 335 - same power, more comfort. You can also add Procede software for not much $ to get sizable gains if you need it.

We will be selling the M3 in '08 and will probably replace it with a 335 vert + Procede

I agree, that the E46 3-series looks better than the E90 and E92 in general. However you really can't just buy a car for its shape and looks.

The M3 will be a bit hard-edged as a daily driver, and will consume more fuel. The S54 engine is a high-revver, and while the power delivery is smooth, peak torque 262 lb/ft occurs @ 4900rpm. In the N54 motor, the torque curve is like a diesel: peak 300 lb/ft comes on @ 1500 and stays till 5000rpm. In addition, M cars are consumption animals..........they consume fuel, oil, and wear out parts quickly. Kinda like a race car. It can be a bit persnickety in extreme cold weather too.

I love the M3....I really do. I hope to get one someday off the used market. However, if it's going to be used as a daily driver, there are more practical choices.

they've got bleedin' E93 335i's sitting on the lot for sale up here...
I can ask around if you want, empty allocation spots + ED =
take advantage of a public who's too damn logical to buy a RWD car here and is waiting for the 335xi's.

They've got like 6 E93 328's if anyone's interested :2thumbs: :bmw:

The M3 is a no brainer. Same speed, much better throttle response because of the individual throttle butterflies, 10000x better handling. Better looking. As far has handling goes you can tell the E92 is meant for cruising. It feels heavy. The steering, while sharp, feels a bit numb. And you can actually negotiate the price with the M.. no point getting slaughtered on price just because a vehicle is part of a new gen.

Haha I'm not mad at all! I actually almost agree with you. I love the E9x cars, but as with all the other new BMWs.. they don't really LOOK like BMWs. I still think the E39 5-series is one of the most beautiful cars ever made! I haven't decided yet if I like the looks of the E9x better than the E46, but I know the E9x is much more comfortable to drive.
