I wanted to wait for the new 3 also, but then again, there are first year bugs that I would wait for them to work out, and by the time I wait for that, I will be eagerly waiting for the facelift. It's never-ending... Also, because the new 3 will be coming out soon, I would assume that I could get an even better price on the current 328i.

Also, the Mercedes salesman was giving me about 3,000$ off MSRP with all of the options included.

I would think that the best deal on a 2011 3 will be on or about the fall. I find that you can buy a car at $500 to $1,000 over cost almost any day however the difference is when BMW provides dealer money and or reduces the finance or lease interest rate. Right now they are giving $1,700 back on 5's with Nav. I would also look at a Audi as well as the MB.

So I test drove the 328i and even the 335d, both were great cars. I loved both, especially the 335d! The 335d had insane amounts of torque. It felt more like a V8 or V10 when I stepped on that pedal. Even though I loved the 335d, I will most likely be settling on the 328i.

Another question I have is about the Performance Center Delivery. I really wanted to pick it up in South Carolina and drive it back to NY. I asked the salesperson, but she told me it was not available for the 3-series...

Not positive, but pretty sure that should be available for you with a 3 series.

Just got a 2011 335i Coupe about 4 weeks ago. This is the N55 setup with a single Turbo. This is an animal. 328i was never a thought for me. Reliablity is much better with the N55. Turbo lag is not an issue with boost at 1200rpms.
303hp with 303 lb/ft tourque. This is my favorite, torque forever!
Drive it, its got a great growl, tight, fast and decent gas mileage.
Enjoy!

PC delivery is available for all cars. Just gotta keep in mind it is very popular, and might delay getting your car while waiting for an opening.

Just got a 2011 328i vert for my mother. She loves it. It is nowhere near as quick as my x5 but the ride is surprisingly smooth and it is a great top down cruiser. Power is ample, I can totally understand you not needing the turbo in the city. If you do go for the 328i, I would like to think you could negotiate at invoice but then again it is a regional thing...Also the audi a5 is a great blend of sport/comfort. I tested one with my mother and it was a great, we are just partial to bimmers :D I will even admit I was on the fence about getting into a phantom black s5 before getting my new x5....but I came to my senses about towing my sea doo and carting around family and friends, which is important to me.

Did you get your 328i for invoice price? At which dealer, if you don't mind me asking? BMW of Bayside quoted me $40,000 and a -$1000 incentive, so $39000 for a 328i packaged up to $42,225. I will be going to Rallye BMW (where the X5 was purchased) this Friday to see if I can get a better deal.
