Florida- 22M people (about half) with 57k cases last week


Florida: 266 case per 100k versus 46 per 100k in California


5.8 fold MORE cases in Florida.


DeSantis is outlawing masks, outlawing vaccine checks, I mean it is as if he actually believes his own lies. (There was a great clip of him screaming at the press from the white house driveway with Pence watching....Pence thinking "dude, shut the F up")


The guy acts like he thinks he can bully the virus into submission. Sadly, for Floridians, this isnt working. And I think he is in a very bad position politically, he has little room to maneuver since he was so brash and reckless with his proclamations and policies. Every time he could have taken a cautious stance, he doubled down.


So, whatdaya think? Hows it looking for him in 2022? 2024?

I think he's channeling Trumpism and hoping his familiar antics could win him the next presidential candidate among die hard trump fans.

For sure.



But too many republicans are going to start dying.... Its one thing to pedal performative belligerence....but when the bodies stack up, those 'center' voters- the ones between 30% Trump diehards and 50.0001% that he needs are going to have a hard time with rank stupidity and cruelty. I think.



Lots of R governors are hedging their bets, giving themselves some wiggle room as the virus re-defines the battle-space. But not DeSantis.

If this group of voters ever grow big enough to affect the outcome of the next presidential race....
