Your partial quote of my words kinda chopped up my original statement and made it sound a little different than I intended it to. I know there were others. I wasn't insinuating that everyone involved was black. My point was that the people who's names were officially released as of yesterday were black and they were defended by the minority speaker (also black) playing the race card. That is super weak, IMO.

Every single one of them should be punished, dismissed or whatever. I just don't want to hear the race card being thrown because the person who is calling EVERYBODY out happens to be white and happened to be photographed holding the flag for the state which he represents in a parade. Give me a break. That is mega lame.

Just a question here:

Are these guys guilty of serious tax crimes, like not filing or lying on their returns, or is this more of the type that Tom Daschale was guilty of, which is like not paying payroll tax on the money you pay your babysitter or the neighborhood kid that mowes your lawn?

I would guess that 90% of us are guilty of that second type, and I don't really consider someone a criminal for that. I'm sure all of us have paid cash to someone for something at some point, or have taken cash from someone for something and not reported it to the IRS. Did you ever have a yard sale? Did you charge sales tax on those items? Did you ever hire a babysitter? Did you send her a 1099 at the end of the year? IMO, these are rather petty tax crimes.

State Reps. Al Williams (D-Midway), Winfred Dukes (D-Albany) and Roberta Abdul-Salaam (D-Riverdale) showed up on a list of state lawmakers with tax problems that was requested by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution under the state’s Open Records Act.

The records indicate Williams owes the state $42,672, and his state pay is being garnished. The records also indicate he has a lien of $73,049 placed against property in Midway. Williams’ wages were garnished last year, too, because of tax troubles.

Williams showed up in news stories last year owning $190,000 in unpaid state and federal taxes. At the time, he said it was because of a miscalculation by the state.

His reponse was "It's crap". Sounds like he has a history of this.

The other 2 called out yesterday don't seem nearly as serious.

It has nothing to do with the race issue. What I was cautioning you on is saying that you had nothing to do with "these" people getting elected. I think that comment was premature given that 19 other names have yet to be revealed. Would you bet the farm that nobody from your district shows up on the list?

I can only comment on the names that have been given so far. If there were more in Georgia, then we will see when the names are officially released. I would bet that at the end of the day, there will be fewer than 19 additional names released. I was referring to the names that have been officially released.

I agree. Now that these three have been outed, the others have time to clean up their mess.

Probably, but you never know. These three are the names so far and that is all we can go off of for now.

This WIlliams guy needs to go. The other 2 had small amounts of under $1,000 according to that article. That is a different story, IMO. I can understand small discrepancies, but Williams sounds like a repeat offender and his amounts were pretty substantial.

Boy! And the media crucified Joe-the-Plumber for not paying taxes! Sheeesh!
