I think you are missing my point, this President has questioned the military, it might not make the military happy but it sure does not mean the President is week!

He fired the general, how is that a sign of weakness?

I was missing your point - firing the president is NOT a sign of weakness. I was commenting on other signs of weakness.

Trying to be objective about our president is difficult for me. I am somewhat indifferent to what the general did. However, if the general had done this to a president I had respect for I'd be calling for his firing and then some. Just being honest about how I see it.

I think we are stuck in another bad war, the USSR lost a lot of money & strength and we are doing the same. We should just carpet bomb the fucks and the same day bomb the hell out of Iran & North Korea. We need to fight wars like a war not some dumb police action. We have the missiles we need to show our strength. We are so concerned about civilians that we end up fighting wars on the enemies terms and can never win. Wars are about power and we are afraid to show our strength.

The point is that war is not about love it is about wining and killing the enemy. Since Jimmy Carter we have been turning the other check to actions of terrorists in the middle east. It has gotten has no where, these people only understand one thing, brutal force. When we bombed Japan we killed a lot of innocent people and we need to do the same today; it is very sad but war is not about love!

We need to show our strength and then I bet a lot more people will love us and not fuck with us. The loving approach to war results in my country men and women dead. If we go to war we need to fight all-out or not fight at all. I think it is a insult to all arm service personnel to fight this milk toast war. I also think Iran and North Korea has more than crossed the line and if don't flaten them today our son's and daughters will be killed by nuclear attacks and the world will be come a total mess.

We did not start WWII and we did not start this! The Taliban only exists because we do not fight a all out war. They thought nothing about kill US citizens on 9-11. It is the war they caused and the only way to end war is to kill or withdraw.

Blindly obeying your boss without speaking up is a great way to let them do whatever it is they want. I can think of a few instances in history here...

I think its BS that he canned him for questioning him. Censorship, whatever you want to call it. I don't think free speech should be suspended, especially in something that affects Americans, not just the president personally.

The difference is: question your boss (dissent) in a one on one meeting.

Do not question your boss, to a reporter, from Rolling Stone, for a month, while drinking, in Afganistan.

Meiac, I really do believe that once you join the military, you lose a lot of the freedoms of an average US citizen. You take an oath to obey orders and the commander in chief whether you agree or not.

My company has a similar policy. Employees are encouraged to show frankness and dissent, up until a decision has been made. Once the decision is final, everyone on the team is expected to work towards reaching the target, without exception.

The difference between war today and war 100 years ago is: Media

Once you 'carpet bombed' a kindergarten, everyone with a cell phone camera would show the mangled children and turn more against us. Why stop at carpet bombing? You said show them our strength. Carpet nuke them. Iran and North Korea. Then Somalia, and Venezuala, and Cuba, and France and BP and anyone else who messes with us. Just will not work in todays global economy. Humans need to stick together, you know peace and love like Jesus preached?

The problem is that we have been fighting a Media related war which we can't win. If you 'carpet bombed' a kindergarten, everyone with a cell phone camera would show the mangled children and turn more against us is not the point. The point is that lots of people are already are "turn against us" when you stop a milk toast war, a lot of people will stand-up and take notice and stop fucking with us for fear that they will be next. War is not love and is not what Jesus or another religion preaches. The concept that you can fight a war with love is why we can never effectively win this war. These limited action wars allows a guy with a truck bomb to make a statement and exist. We killed a lot of people in Japan (including a lot of poor innocent children) but in the end it stop the war and reduced the killing of US & Japanese soldiers.

It really is a very simple concept, treat all people with with love and respect but if they choose to kill US citizens fight a real war. If we did this the amount of armed conflict in the world would drop and we all would have more love.

Viperfreak2 06-25-2010 01:04 PM

Thanks for bringing up the Japan example. Back then we were fighting wars between nations.

Today we are fighting an enemy that is in all nations, even our own. You can't carpet bomb innocent people and expect (as you say) people to stand-up and take notice and stop f'in with us....

They won't, just like you wouldn't if someone destroyed your home town. It would make you bitter and angry and want immediate revenge.

I challenge you to name cities/countries you would destroy if you were in charge.
