Question New X3 coming, anyone thinking of downsizing?

I was thinking of a 50i for more push, but the new X3 35i sounds like it will have impressive performance. I'm also thinking that there's not going to be much tradeoff in interior space between the two until the next x5 iteration arrives in a few years. I also like the idea of all the new damper controls etc that can be optioned for x3, likely to be cheaper than crazy adaptive drive price ... Food for thought I suppose.

We have a X5 and an X3. At least with the current model X3, there is a significant difference in interior space. In the X5 we can fit two baby seats and a person in the back. In the X3 we can only fit the two baby seats. Not enough room for a person.

Is your X5 an E53 or a E70?

I see that the new X3 is a 20d or 35i only for OZ in initially? Perhaps a 23d and a 25i/28i later?

Engine options on new X3 for Australia are 20d, 30d and 28i (detuned 3.0-litre). No 35i as I mentioned above.

No new X3 for me even if the size and the engine options look good. The new 30d looks like a ripper and we already know the 20d is an excellent engine. Where I live I need a vehicle with full-size spare wheel/tyre, and I don't like run-flats. When my '05 E53 3.0d becomes too long in the tooth I won't be buying another BMW unless it comes with a full-size spare even if the tyre companies come up with more robust run-flats.
