Don't know if it helps your cause OP?

But my 06 E53 3.0D with 70K~ on the clock returns 800km's city to about 90 litres of fuel.

So 11.3L per 100 Km

That's driving it fairly hard and around town only... gets more on long trips but I'm yet to take it on a real long one to see what HWY mileage is like?

I really can't complain with those figures though for what it is.

I never pay much attention to the figures they supply.. just use em as a 'guide' more or less.

Mine averages around 8.8 litres/100 with a combination of hwy and city driving.
Highway driving only it drops to around 7.6 – 7.8 @ 100 kmph
Economy improved significantly after cleaning the EGR valve.
This car currently has 152,000 km’s on the clock and is a 2004 diesel sport.
These figures are calculated and not from the trip computer.

They are good fuel numbers. Is yours a manual or an auto?

It's an auto.

It improved about 1 - 1.5 litres/100 h/w driving after I cleaned the extremely dirty EGR valve. Money well worth spending; $25 for a couple of cans of cleaner and a few hours work.
The dealer quoted the previous owner over $1000 to change (not clean) the EGR valve after a complaint of excessive black smoke on acceleration.
Needless to say I think that was the final straw that caused the prior owner to sell.

I'm still investigating an EGR delete option which will cure the problem once and for all. Still unsure if I can do it on my model without flagging an error.

35d 15000km city driving only, 17.1 l/ 100. It's shit, but it's just purely down to hauling the weight off traffic lights and stop signs etc. I don't blast around so think it's just down to stop start nature of driving. I've given up caring that much as I didnt spent 120k to gripe about a few extra bucks on fuel each week, but agree that the quoted numbers are misleading as it isnt even close to real world.

The official figures aren't 'real world' as they are done on a dyno. But,as I keep pointing out, don't blame BMW. This is a government mandated test that all vehicles manutacturers/distributors must perform and then quote the results.

Either way, 17.1L/100km is super high. You must have a heavy right foot. That's the sort of figure you would expect from a petrol V8.

What's your driving regime?

My onboard reads a few percent optimistic compared to my manual calculation of litres used verses km driven.

04 3.0D UK Import ( 160kw )

Im getting low to mid 8's purely country driving but at high speed ( 130 - 140 's ) and Mid 9.0s as a combo , with fairly spirited city driving though not heavy traffic and not hammering it ...

Late 04 X5D - stock engine, OEM 18" wheels

City trips of less than 15kms from cold start => 10.0 - 12.5L/100km
City trips with warm engine => 8.5 - 10.5L/100km
Melb Airport to Mornington, mostly freeways = 8.2L/100km

Driving to Sydney from Melbourne and back next week and plan to fill up at the end of each trip only. I will post the outcome when we return.
Cheers,
Daniel
