I'm sure there are a few of us

It sounds like SSS/Progman is what you want.

Is there something specific that you want to update/change?

I got an INPA kit from eBay for $55.
I want to update ECUs (engine, transmission, etc) and do recoding and changing car features.

Okay, you probably got SSS/Progman as well? INPA is okay for basic diagnostics and tweaking some settings, but Progman has far more utility. So far I have updated the firmware in the transmission and DSC and changed some of the key memory options.

Progman will take a survey of the modules in the car and detect whether or not updates are available. If there are available updates, it will determine any dependencies (other modules that should be updated at the same time) and apply them all at once.

Australian delivered cars are EU equivalent for most circumstances, so if in doubt stick with the EU settings where their is a choice.

Please note (and this is really important), you need to have a battery charger attached that can sustain the current draw while the ignition is on and the engine off. My charger is not up to the task and the battery has been depleted at inopportune times (for example, it went flat during the transmission update). Flattening the battery can cause persistent fault codes to be logged too (such as air suspension, steering angle sensor alignment etc).

Hi Grant, this is all really good information. Once i get this kit, i'll let you know what software it came with and i would love to pick your brain some more if thats ok?
