it fits in the compartment where the battery lives, next to the radio and TV units. there is a special pleace for it... google for the trailer hitch installation instructions from BMW. all in there

there is nothing in the battery compartment like this. there is certainly no radio or TV modules anywhere in the battery region. there is a an amplifier in the left side behind a carpeted panel
it is mentioned in the instructions posted on this site, but i cant find a pic

Ok, so i worked it out myself
Incase anyone else wants to know...
of the X393S plug:
Pin 1 - Left Turn Indicator
Pin 2 - ?
Pin 3 - Negative
Pin 4 - Right Turn Indicator
Pin 5 - ?
Pin 6 - Stop/Brake Lamps
Pin 7 - Running Lamps/Side Markers
Pin 8 - Reverse/Back Up Lamps
Pin 9 - Positive
Pin 10 - N/C
Pin 11 - Electric Brake Signal
Pin 12 - ?

The module plugs in a slot near the battery.

thanks, i finally found that after removing the covers.
I've got everything to work except trailer brakes (pin 11)

you need to wire your brake controller into pin 11

ok so my trailr has LEDs... hence i bought a box from these guys: Linear Electronic Design | Home
everything works great, PDC rear sensors are off, lights behanve as expected.... but i still get a 'check trailer lights warning'!
any ideas?
