Battery flat and 4x4/esc failure

This probably means $$$$$. My e70 3.0d has a flat battery so car won't start. And there is a warning light saying 4x4 failure. The front brake pads need changing too.

Where do you get the battery from, and how much?

Will ring an independent workshop tomorrow. Hopefully they can fix it. Wish me luck.

I would FIRST replace the battery.... low voltage can trip other issues and your 4x4 might be due to that.

Just MHO

Just replaced the battery. Bought a century one for $239. How much from BMW? Yep, almost 3x the price, $619 + GST. BMW really do treat their customers as idiots. Seriously put me off from buying any more of their cars. Now, hopefully I can get the code cleared.

Has anyone found low dust brake pads for e70? I'll check with clickable.

re aftermarket battery, you'd still need to register the new battery otherwise it won't charge properly. i'd take it to your independent BMW or your friendly local BMW dealers.

as for the 4x4 errors, just turn your steering wheel all the the way to left and do the same to the right, it should clear the error.

I had mine replaced by the dealer Trivetteclassic. Charged $900
They didn't have to register or program it as its a direct replacement agm.
Got quotes with other BMW dealers too slightly cheaper.

As I said earlier, all batteries put in requires a replacement procedures regardless whether you are using a genuine BMW or aftermarket. You will also need to find out the AH ratings. Newer models should have black AGMs. There are two ah ratings for the black AGMs and two for the normal white case batteries.

You'll need to register / code the battery so that the ECU recognise it is a new battery, otherwise it won't charge properly as BMW has its own system to charge according to your pattern of driving (eg. frequent short trip)
