BM53 repair

I'll keep my powder dry until I get it back but there is a gentleman in Sydney who fixes amp problems ie dead channels and he also adds BT streaming to it using the AUX channel. I've had all dead channels except for the passenger side front. Can't wait to have it back and have BT streaming as part of the airmen setup. Cost is $300 and if it works I'll put the details up. I would have had to send it to London to et the same things fixes so rapt there's an option in Aus.

So I got it back on Thursday and unfortunately the BT isn't producing sound. It connects ok and does stream, but no sound. To the guy's credit, he's sending another to me to replace it with, so we'll see how that goes. All speakers working again so happy with the results. Only weird thing is that when I turn the car on from cold, the radio defaults on AM 531 regardless of what I was listening to when I turned the car off BUT it does keep the stations in the memory - weird.

He didn't update the firmware but I don't know if it's necessary with a BM53 amp as it is with a BM54

OK, so the Bluetooth function unfortunately doesn't work and they clearly need to do a bit more tinkering because they've given me a refund on the money I paid for the service. However the channels all work perfectly so from that point I'm happy.

i use the AUX and a little toy from iLive, a BT to 3.5mm stereo audio plug device (under $20 from our local Wal-Mart)... the phone connects once in the phone cradle (car mode automatically activated), and disconnects when the screen goes blank once out of the cradle (BT turns off when the phone screen goes blank is part of the Android Tuner Free app). simple and cheap - just need a micro USB power (included in the package), that is all...
