Thanks for the info, everyone! My husband said it took less than 10 minutes to change out the regulator once he got the door panel off. Next time (if there is a next time), maybe he'll try the zip...

Window regulator
I have a 2001 X5 with 78,000 miles. Last Saturday, the left rear window regulator failed. Today (Wednesday) the RIGHT rear window regulator failed. These windows are NEVER used! What's the deal...
