So, there was a bad choice BMW engineers made not to have a manual override unlock lever. Double pull or double lock concepts only add confusion to the consumers.

You are right about having the a/c not on for a while (like overnight).
My a/c control is manual.
I tried to run fast to get the a/c working but it does not seem to help that way.
