thanks for all the advice, still haven't had the time, or weather to try doing it tho, is there an amount of time where the dvd unit will lose all settings and memory if left long enough?

will definately give this a go, once the disc is out however is there a way to reset the drive so that the power light does come on to give an indication that i can try installing the firmware again,...

no from ebay which was described as working,...

no from ebay which was described as working, there is no power light now but can still hear it spinning up etc, sreen is also blank. is the unit dead

MK4 DVD sat nav comp

i have just installed the mk4 dvd unit into my car to upgrade from mk3, when i powered up the unit it asked for an appropraite software cd so inserted the V30. said it was loading then the screen...
