Sure I think you should just install it. If it is not the original that came with the X it just needs recoding to your VIN. The trifecta lights will continue until it gets recoded.

Wow, I have never heard of this fix. PLEASE DO NOT do this fix. Because if the main plastic guide failed the metal chain will rub on the U shaped metal guide under the plastic. Lots of metal shavings...

Don't forget to replace all of the other parts that Beisan systems instructions recommend. These are important for the oil seals of the vanos and to have the motor quiet and diesel sound free.
