If you remove the black housing around the mirror...

If you remove the black housing around the mirror and sensor youll see a plug going into the rain sensor itself. Simply unplug it and they will wipe now as regular intermittent.

OK new update. I took the battery out of our M5...

OK new update. I took the battery out of our M5 and put it in my X and we let the car sit and we turned on all the accesories and the battery got drawn down to 10 volts and started throwing warnings....

Another factor might be that there was a loose bolt at the bottom of the oil pan that caused a slight leek, I am not sure if this could have anything to do with this issue but it might.
