Did the upholstery you bought from the dealer include the heating element? My understanding is that the heating element is sewn in or otherwise attached to the leather.....

If they haven't thrown a code and you don't have any symptoms, I'd leave them in.

But if you want to replace them now, they're cheap -- $107 on Amazon for the two pre-cat sensors including tool....

Do a search. There's a rubber or plastic component IIRC on the motor which does this and drives people crazy. It splits on the underside where it can't be seen. Even numerous BMW service centers...

Empty housing with prongs goes on from outside. Easy to do with no sensor engaged. Then sensor goes into housing from inside the bumper, slides right in.

Bosch OEM sensors are $44 each at Amazon, that's where I got mine. The bundled socket I also got, so replacing my sensors (pre-cat) including the special tool was $107 and 30 minutes of my time....
