Mine does that too, unless I drive in SD mode. When in SD mode it is always ready to go.

Normal D mode is more relaxed and has a delay. Mercedes is the same.

Diesel is much cheaper here in BC, typically 10-15 cents/liter cheaper and that is for the low sulphur version, regular semi diesel is even cheaper than that.

Diesels are purchased in higher percentages in Canada than in the USA, but we tend to follow what BMW USA...

I haven't pulled the seats out and it is a pain with a seat cover and a baby seat in place. You will also need to add all the harnessing I would guess. Probably nothing in place for the switches...
