Hmm.. I had the CV boots replaced less than 2 years ago and that alone was not cheap. That would definitely not be a DIY....

Hmm.. true all the X5s I have seen so far have had the running boards, which I think they look great but I have small kids.

I don't know how much it would cost but the part itself cost me just over $100 - about $110 - and then I'd imagine they charge 2.5-3 hours labour, so at 100/hour, that's easy 250 + 100=350 minimum.

Hi, I have a 2001 3.0 X5 and I just had these codes come up a few days ago: P1619 and P0491 and P0492.

I erased the codes, and allowed the monitors to run the checks and the P1619 came up again...
